Overview
The thyroid produces two hormones T4 (thyroxine) and T3 (triiodothyronine), and the body usually converts T4 into T3. Then T3 acts on multiple body systems including the cardiovascular system and metabolism (1,2). Sometimes T4 is converted into rT3 instead of T3.
